If you ran into a great international player for your program here are few things that you want to remember:
1) Young foreign athletes have never heard about most of the American colleges or universities.
2) Most Young foreign athletes are not familiar with school's brand names
3) International athletes are not aware of the process of applying to school, e.g. taking SAT/TOEFL, translate documents, going through the clearinghouse etc.
4) International athletes are not aware of the NCAA rules and regulations
5) International players (beside those from English speaking countries), do NOT speak English – there is a good chance that they do not understand everything that you say, even if they say they do.
6) E-mail is a great way to communicate with them, but if you speak with them on the phone you have done 50% of the recruiting.
7) Local scouting services and/or local contact people can be great in helping you evaluating international players.
8) International players will most likely ask for scholarship or financial aid
